Ginger is an old timer when it comes to it's healing abilities. Ginger is quite a universal remedies for nausea, morning sickness, aids in digestion, helps with cough and also freshens the smell of fish when cooking. It is quite easy to make your own ginger tea and is cheaper if homemade. You can drink it with or without any sweetener, depending how strong your stomach can handle the taste of ginger.
I recommend fresh ginger. Based on my experience of drinking ginger tea for years, it is better tasting than powder ginger but it all depends on the person. The fresh ginger has juice that really brightens the tea in taste.
I normally grate the ginger because it can give more of the ginger - the ability to help me in times of distress ( like nausea, morning sickness or cough) It just feels so smooth into the throat, as it glides down to the stomach, giving more comfort on my weary health.
How to prepare Ginger Tea:
Prepare the pan with water and turn the stove on medium heat.
Grate a chunk of ginger root, with or without skin. I leave the skin on my ginger tea, as long as it's clean of any dirt because they grow underground.
As soon the water boils, throw in the grated ginger root, cover and turn off the stove. Let it steep for 2-3 minutes, depending on how strong you want the ginger to taste. The longer, the stronger the ginger.
With the help of a strainer, pour the tea onto a cup and add some honey as sweetener.
Drink it as soon as you can handle. The warmer the tea. the soothing it is on your throat. The stronger the taste of ginger, the more comfort it gives to your health.
